First Blood (1982)

Why did I just watch this? I’m a girl! πŸ˜‰

Okay – this will be a quick & simple review. I’m a girl but definitely not a “girly” girl. I love all kinds of movies and plenty that would be considered “guy” movies. I always wanted to check this one out mainly because it’s a pretty big movie from the 80s that I’d never seen (don’t think there are many – I love my 80s movies!).

So, like I said, I like guy movies. I love The Deer Hunter which, (obviously), gets the point across about the horrors of Vietnam much better than First Blood does. And if I’m going to watch dudes being hunted in the woods (or a jungle), I’d rather watch Predator – that was MUCH cooler! πŸ˜‰ First Blood also suffers from being a little TOO 80s – it’s definitely dated. I mean, what on earth was that horrible cheesy song over the end credits?! Lol! Have to admit to kind of loving that in 80s movies, though. Always makes me feel nostalgic. I suppose it’s not as bad as the “push it to the limit” montage scene in Scarface… That one really cracks me up! πŸ˜‰ God I loved the 80s.

Conclusion: I really think a penis may be required to fully appreciate this particular guy movie. Just like Steven Seagal movies. I assume… You won’t ever get me watching one of those! And, no, I haven’t watched The Expendables.

My Rating: 6/10 (It’s not actually that “bad” – just not my type of thing!)

  1. Ha, this is hliarious! I just watched this last night – review to follow – and I actually really enjoyed it. To be fair I think that’s probably because I was expecting it to be rubbish. But yes, what the hell was that song about? Hardly befitting of a poignant ending.
