My Top Ten Movies Of 2015

Yesterday I did a list of My Top Ten Movies Watched At Home In 2015 so today I’m posting My Top Ten Movies That I Saw In The Cinema In 2015 (going by UK release date – I know some of these were 2014 in America).

Like yesterday, I’ll just list them (counting down to my favorite – plus I’ve again included the next five as honorable mentions) but feel free to further discuss any with me in the comments. The one thing I’ll say is that number one and two are closer than you’d expect considering what a big fan I am of the series of one of them. I actually think that number two is, technically, the better film. But nostalgia won out… 🙂 Oh, and I’m very proud that I managed to review all of these! Here’s my list:

Honorable Mentions:

15. Ant-Man
14. Avengers: Age Of Ultron
13. Kingsman: The Secret Service
12. Terminator Genisys
11. CHAPPiE

Top Ten:

10. Krampus

9. Whiplash

8. Big Hero 6

7. Suffragette

6. The Peanuts Movie

5. Inside Out

4. It Follows

3. Ex Machina

2. Mad Max: Fury Road

1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Fury Road is awesome! But it’s not Star Wars… 🙂

**If you can’t live without knowing how I’ve ranked the rest, you can see the full list of all 29 movies I went to see in 2015 HERE. Have a Happy New Year, everyone! I’ll be posting My Top Ten Books Read In 2015 tomorrow so be sure to read that while you’re hungover. Ha!**

Oh! I have to add this: Nothing makes my day more than when some 80’s movie star briefly acknowledges my existence on Twitter. 😉 Marshall R Teague, who was in the f*%king awesome ROAD HOUSE, retweeted my Road House review a couple of days ago. Everyone! You must watch Road House if you’ve never seen it! Put it on your Bucket Lists!!!!!

  1. Some interesting choices there! Not many I’d really disagree with out of the ones I’ve seen, though maybe in a slightly different order — I didn’t like either Big Hero 6 or Inside Out as much as other people, and I must say I enjoyed Ant-Man considerably more than Age of Ultron.

I’m a little bit ashamed I’ve still not got round to It Follows and Ex Machina. Both are on my Blu-ray pile, too! Some targets for January, I think. Good top 2, though. Both definite contenders for my #1 (which I’ve yet to start really thinking about…)

    • Thanks! Glad we mostly agree on stuff. 🙂 I almost kind of preferred Ant-Man to Ultron as well – I almost put them the other way around. I hope you like It Follows & Ex Machina as much as I did! Have you decided on a number one yet?

  2. That’s a pretty solid list there, I tend to think 2015 was actually a very solid year for movies. Lots of massive projects with record-setting expectations riding on them. I have a feeling this coming summer will be similar. You should stop on by the Digibread Awards when you have a chance and make fun of the movies I put in my list. You’ll probably be mad. 😀

    • I agree – I think 2015 was a very good year for movies. I hope 2016 can be similar. Oh yes – I have to check out the Digibread Awards!!!! I’ll try to not be TOO mad. 😉 I’ll be by later after the kid is in bed!

    • Ha! Well, yeah – Krampus isn’t great & is certainly flawed but I had enough fun with it for it to just make it into the ten. 🙂 Those two really are awesome. But Fury Road most certainly belongs at the top too. 😉 I can’t remember – have you seen It Follows?

  3. Great list! My top three this year were 1) Star Wars, 2) Fury Road, and 3) Ant-Man. I was really hoping Star Wars would be my No. 1 😉 but Fury Road and Ant-Man caught me pleasantly by surprise.

    • Thanks! 🙂 Yeah, Fury Road was SUCH a close second. I didn’t expect to love it so much. I did like Ant-Man more than I expected, too! I almost put it above Ultron. 🙂

  5. I freaking love your top three picks 😀 😀 😀

I must say, I found 2015 to be quite a bland year for cinema in comparison to 2014. Sure, we had some really, really big movies (seriously, Star Wars and Mad Max and Jurassic World all in one year), but there wasn’t too much more between it all.

    • Hmm. I actually just looked at my 2014 list & you’re right – I REALLY liked all of my top ten in 2014 but this year I wasn’t as crazy about the lower half of the list (I mean, Krampus made the top ten this year – it certainly wasn’t exactly “good”). But, DAMN, I just loved my top three this year so much! They’ll be all-time favorites. 🙂 Don’t think any 2014 films will.

    • I still need to see Brooklyn, Carol & Room! Really want to see them. May go to Room tomorrow. Happy 2016! 🙂 Replying during my work lunch so will stop by later & check out your list too. Yeah – I love year end lists! 🙂

  6. Very nice list! It was a fantastic year in film, so my choices varied quite abit from yours! But still, you really have an eclectic mix 🙂 Ex Machina and Inside Out were so good. Read my list if you have the time and tell me what you think!
