R.I.P. Anton Yelchin

I don’t really tend to do tribute posts but felt I should say a little something about Anton Yelchin as I really enjoyed his work as an actor. There are still quite a few films of his that I have yet to see but I first noticed him in Charlie Bartlett, a great film that deserved more recognition & his crazy character was to thank for making that film so enjoyable. I of course thought he was great as Chekov in Star Trek & Star Trek Into Darkness and it was cool seeing him in the adaptation of Odd Thomas, one of my favorite Dean Koontz books. But, of what I’ve seen, Charlie Bartlett is the one that really shows his unique talent. I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it. What a sad loss.

  1. I whole-heartedly agree with you. He was a talent. Also great in Like Crazy, they’re great with Felicity Jones. And one of the best episodes of Criminal Minds is the one with him in it. R.I.P. 😔

  2. Charlie Bartlett!! That’s what I knew him from 😦 was watching the news this morning and I knew there was a ‘pinnacle’ role I remembered him for.

    Nice tribute Miss Mutant.

  3. Such a loss, and it feels almost… silly. I mean, hit by your own car on your own driveway! Poor guy.

Seen a few recommendations for Charlie Bartlett now, so I must keep an eye out for it.

    • Yes, very sad. It’s a shame there was a known fault with that vehicle & it had to take a death for it to be noticed. Yeah, Charlie Bartlett was a good one! Very different – I liked how original it was. You should check it out. : )

  4. I was very upset about this and yesterday, when I went to a movie, I saw the Star Trek trailer and there was a brief flash of him on this one. I felt like I was punched in the gut. It is strange how there are the occasional deaths of people we never actually knew that can hit us so strongly. Or maybe it is just that there have been so many this year.

    • Yes, it’s been a crazy year for celebrity deaths! Including my absolute favorite entertainer (David Bowie – I’ll never stop being upset about that one). Very sad about Yelchin, too – such a freak accident & he was so young. : (

  5. So sad–I learned this news while I was on vacation and it just made me feel sick. 😦 I loved him in the Trek reboot films, and it will be hard to watch him in Star Trek Beyond next month. He should have played that role many times more.
