Happy Birthday to Harry Dean Stanton, who turns 90 today! Wow – I can’t believe he’s 90. Such a great actor who has been in so many awesome films. Stanton has quite of an impressive résumé & doesn’t seem to get the credit he deserves.
As always, I’m ranking these according to how much I like the movie as opposed to the character (if going by character, Seven Psychopaths would be much higher – loved his character in that). So, counting down to my favorite movie (a movie that NOTHING tops), here are My Top Ten Harry Dean Stanton Movies:
Honorable Mentions:
The Last Temptation Of Christ
Dream A Little Dream
The Mighty
Christine
Red Dawn
Okay – he’s been in a few other big movies that I haven’t seen. I have yet to see…:
Paris, Texas
Wild At Heart
Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
**Updated March 12th 2017 to add The Last Temptation Of Christ. It doesn’t make the Top Ten.
What a dude! Always enjoy seeing him. Paris, Texas is excellent, by the way.
He’s definitely a DUDE. What a legend. Shocked he’s 90! I actually think we may have Paris, Texas on DVD. I should dig it out. : )
This guy is one amazing actor, completely agree about Alien taking the top spot.
Yep! Great & somewhat ignored actor. Nothing beats Alien (and Aliens). NOTHING. : )
The four you haven’t seen….not a bad one in the bunch. Reward yourself and check them out.
Yeah, I really should. I will someday! I think I actually have Paris, Texas & Fear And Loathing on DVD. : )
Pretty in Pink, nice, good soundtrack too!
Yep! Gotta love a John Hughes soundtrack. : )
Harry Dean Stanton is certainly enjoyable!
He certainly is! And is lucky to have been in so many great films. : )
Paris, Texas…………is THE one!
Hmm… Quite a few people have mentioned that one from my Not Seen list. Guess I better watch it! : )
Such a legend!
He really is! I don’t think he’s ever really gotten enough credit. : )
Ever since I saw that documentary on “That guy, who was in that thing”, I now look at actors differently. This is one of those actors who fall in this category for me. When I start to see his movie rolls strung together in pictures I realize I see him everywhere but I usually have not clue who he is and I don’t really recognize him until it is pointed out ot me.
Yeah, Harry Dean Stanton is a bit of a “hey, it’s that guy” but a little more famous than that. I love unknown actors/actresses whose faces I know but usually can’t name. I become a little obsessed with some “hey, it’s that guy” actors! : )
