Hi all! I’m really slacking on writing movie reviews this year. So, when that happens, I decide to make a poll instead. Because I’m a procrastinator!
Below are the movies I’ve watched in the past few years but never got around to/didn’t feel like/couldn’t be bothered reviewing. I’ll probably do them as “quickie threesome” reviews but was curious which ones people would be most interested in hearing about. You can vote for as many choices as you like (if I set this poll up right… Who knows!).
Also, I’d like to do a themed week again (or month). I’ll be honest: If I do, it’ll be in 2018. But I’m wondering which of the choices below sound the most fun/entertaining/not-too-boring.
I do plan to review the below films soon, though, so I’ve not added them to the poll:
– The Frame (2014) (fantastic! deserves recognition, which is why I’ll review it)
– The Beguiled (1971) (good)
– Hell Or High Water (good)
– Okja (overrated)
I’ll still be reviewing 5 more Blind Spot films before the end of the year (I’ve watched The Raid & am halfway through Zodiac, which I’m struggling to finish). Also, as usual I’ve not reviewed any horror films I’ve watched in the past year since I’ll try to review them all in October (if I have the energy). But one of my favorite films I’ve seen overall this year is Train To Busan, which will definitely get an October review. Loved it! These are the horror reviews you might see (most of them sucked, which is why I may not have the energy…):
Monster Hunter, The Forest, The Watcher In The Woods, Lifeforce, The Witch, The Gift, The Final Girls, Pontypool, Only Lovers Left Alive, The Wailing, Byzantium, Green Room, Before I Wake, Poltergeist (2015)
So, I do still make plans for this blog even though it feels like I’m abandoning it this year. I should be around a bit more in the next month while life hopefully settles down a little! π
I’d love to see reviews of independent stuff (any genre ;)), anything non-franchised & not from big studios. π
Akira Kurosawa insight would be very interesting. It’s something that influenced hundreds of filmmakers, yet more light should be poured on him…
Haha! Well, that’s the kind of stuff I’m happy to review when I manage to actually see them. And I tend to review those anyway – this list is mainly a lot of “leftovers” I couldn’t be bothered to review in the past year. π I loved the few Kurosawa films I’ve seen so am very eager to explore the rest of his work.
I am looking forward to it, I’ve seen only 7 Samurai.
holy shit, thats a lot of unreviewed films. get to work!!!
Haha! Well…. I might. If I can be bothered. Which I probably can’t… π
π
Unsurprisingly, I went for Kurosawa movies. It’s important people realise he is more than just samurai films, his social dramas are stunning works too.
I also chose Babel from the top list (It’s one of the few I’ve heard of) since the elliptical nature of the plot seems to confound a some people. Plus I didn’t want you to suffer some of the other films! π π
I didn’t love Babel. π¦ Do love the few Kurosawa films I’ve seen so far, though. Definitely want to watch more. As for the first list of movies, though, I’ve suffered them all since I’ve already seen them all. And it really was “suffering” for some (like Batman V Superman). π
Just be prepared for some long sessions when you get round to Kurosawa. He does like to take his time telling a story… π
Haha! Well, I’ve done Seven Samurai – I figure that’s maybe the longest? (Loved it) π

I voted for John Carpenter movies.
Well, it looks like it’s between Kurosawa movies & animated movies. But I’ll review the Carpenter ones eventually too. π
That’s fantastic. You have a good variety there.
