My Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie Ranking

**List updated June 2022 to now contain 28 films**

Well, I guess it’s time for me to finally rank the MCU movies I’ve seen so far.

I reviewed Avengers: Infinity War yesterday (I liked it a lot). As I always say, I enjoy these Marvel films but I’d never call this a favorite genre of mine. I never get too involved with the superhero stories, which follow the same formula in every film. And how can I worry about a favorite character when I know they’re unlikely to ever truly die or be hurt? I absolutely love the Guardians Of The Galaxy films, though, and those along with Thor: Ragnarok have made me more excited about these movies again. Superhero movies need some humor. If I want dark & dreary, I’ll watch the DC shit! (But I did like Wonder Woman). Marvel does things right with a good balance of humor and really strong characters. The characters, for me, are more important than the recycled stories. If the characters weren’t as great as they are, I doubt I’d have watched 18 of these movies.

Yep. 18. I’m doing this list even though I never did see The Incredible Hulk. I’ll probably slowly be working my way through watching these again in order now that my kid has taken an interest in seeing them. That’s the second film so I can update this list once I’ve seen it (I’m not expecting it to be high). And, of course, I’ll have to add the next Infinity War film next year. I hope that’s high but I’m very worried that, if not handled well, it’ll ruin Part 1. We’ll see… So Part 1 may move up or down the list depending on Part 2.

**List Now Updated To Include everything up to June 2022**

  1. I love seeing other MCU rankings to see how differently we all view the films. I think my rankings change frequently. I’m still deciding where to put Infinity War. It doesn’t knock off my top 4, but whether it goes to 5 or 6 is the question.

    • Yeah, it’s funny how very different people’s MCU rankings are. 🙂 Looks like we feel about the same about Infinity War. But I do think its final ranking will depend on the final film either making it better or worse…

  2. Sometime I need to rewatch all of the MCU (maybe in the run-up to Avengers 4). There’s only about four or five that I’ve seen twice, so I think some are due a second chance, and maybe there are others I’d rate lower, I dunno. Personally, I’ve been liking the recent ones even more than the early ones — Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and Black Panther would probably all make my top ten, alongside the likes of Civil War and Infinity War.

    • I’m looking forward to rewatching all these with the kid now that she’s interested in seeing them all. 🙂 I’ve liked some of the newer ones and others not as much. I wanted to like Homecoming more, although I think he’s a fantastic Spider-Man. I like Ant-Man (but I do love Paul Rudd). And I liked Doctor Strange quite a bit as it was so different. He was another thing I really liked about Infinity War. 🙂

  3. Yay! My top 3 are actually the same as yours, though in a slightly different order. 😉 1) Iron Man; 2) Guardians Vol. 1; 3) Winter Soldier. I’d like to re-watch all of these, but that will be a major project now with so many films!

    • Yay! We have AWESOME taste. 😁 lol. My kid is very interested in watching them all now so I’ll slowly work my way through them all again from the start. Looking forward to it. I may like them even more seeing her enjoy them. We just watched Iron Man with her and she really liked it. Yay! I was surprised. 🙂

    • I’m so that way with these! They’re so similar and all follow the same damn formula. I had to refresh my memory on a few of these to do this list by reading the synopsis at Wikipedia. The ones I remember least are the Avengers ones with too many characters. It’s superhero overload. Although I did really really like Infinity War (mainly for the Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy scenes). 🙂

      • U’re welcome!
All of them?! My advice: it’s best to leave out Incredible Hulk – that really doesn’t look like a MCU film. And it’s ok: I won’t tell anyone if u decide to give Black Panther a miss! 😉
