I’m really late posting this but here are My 2019 Blind Spot Choices.
I have to admit that I’m not all that thrilled with these choices. There are way too many “worthy” films this time and not enough that just look like fun (like my Enter The Dragon choice last year!). I usually end up loving the worthy stuff but, man, it’s hard to force myself to watch them.
Here’s how I went about choosing these: From a loooooooong list of stuff I want to watch, these are the ones the husband said I’m allowed to watch without him (except for first one, so he better keep his promise to watch it with me!). 😉
Here are my Blind Spot choices for 2019 (in alphabetical order because I fucking love alphabetizing…)
Assault On Precinct 13 (1976)
Deep Red
Dreamscape
Gandhi
In The Heat Of The Night
The Killing Fields
Lawrence Of Arabia
Mississippi Burning
Paprika
Paris, Texas
Quadrophenia
The Wild Bunch
Alternates:
El Topo
Once Upon A Time In America
The Right Stuff
Fiddler On The Roof
Midnight Express
Solaris (1972)
Ip Man
Cat On A Hot Tin Roof
The Last Dragon (1985)
I’ll try to review one Blind Spot movie a month (although I certainly didn’t manage that last year). I have already watched two of my choices, though! Very disappointing so far…
Which ones?
Which ones have I watched already? Paprika & Dreamscape. 🙂 Both disappointing!
The only one of yours I’ve seen is Paris, Texas which is pretty good. I have In The Heat Of The Night on my list this year as well.
What the fuck is that doll?! lol
I’m looking forward to Paris, Texas more than most of these. Love Harry Dean Stanton. Love Sidney Poitier as well and haven’t watched nearly enough of his stuff so am looking forward to In The Heat Of The Night. And that doll is creepy! Think seeing that image actually made me put Deep Red on the list. I love/hate creepy doll movies! 🙂
The only one I’ve seen is Lawrence of Arabia, and only because it’s my Dad’s favourite movie and he made us watch it for his Birthday one year. It’s an alright story but OH MY GOD does it feel long.
Lol. Others have mentioned these being long. I feel SO annoyed when movies are really long, which is why I never got around to a lot of these worthy classics. Which is ridiculous since I always enjoy them when I finally watch them. And I’ll spend HOURS watching short, crappy movies! 🙂
The only one of these I have seen is Quadrophenia. I had very mixed feelings about it.
I tried to watch it once but stopped fifteen minutes in for some reason. Really not sure what I’m going to think of it…
Quadrophenia is one of my all time favourite films so I’ll be keeping an eye out for your review…. 😉
I was meant to watch it last year! Hopefully I’ll manage to see it this year. 🙂
Some reeeeally good movies. You got a lot to look forward to.
I know! They’re all very worthy. Don’t know why I have such a hard time making myself watch worthy stuff. Probably because they’re usually SO long! 🙂
Oh wow, some properly “worthy” movies there! I’ve only seen three of them myself: Assault on Precinct 13, which certainly isn’t worthy (quite good though); Lawrence of Arabia, which is very good but also very long; and The Wild Bunch, which I didn’t love but did like a lot (but also felt a bit long at times!)
Why the hell are the worthy movies SO DAMN LONG?!?!? 🙂 That’s why I never get around to watching them! But I’ll try to this year. Finally. Just might take me a week to finish the 3 hour long ones…
