IMDB Top 250 Update – Guest Reviews Still Needed – Are You Still In?

20140614-044425 pm-60265540.jpg

Hello everyone! Thanks again for all the wonderful guest reviews you’ve sent me for my IMDB Top 250 Challenge. Several people have asked me to remind them which movies they chose. I’ve been meaning for some time now to go through all the comments & get a proper list together of who chose what as it was hard to keep track & I may have missed some replies. (I had to make a spreadsheet, people! I felt like I was at work). 😉 First of all: DID SOMEONE CHOOSE SCARFACE?!

20140614-044850 pm-60530116.jpg
(That’s me after working on the spreadsheet) 😉

I took Scarface off the list but can’t find a comment from anyone choosing it. This is what I currently show as having not yet been chosen:

– Life Is Beautiful 1997
– Mystic River 2003
– Goodfellas 1990
– Vertigo 1958
– The Graduate 1967
– Beauty And The Beast 1991
– Taxi Driver 1976
– Into the Wild 2007
– American Beauty 1999

Now, I’ve put together this list of reviews I’m waiting for & who chose them. Don’t worry – I’m not chasing any of you for these! I myself have to do about 100 reviews from the 250 – that’ll take me AGES. Ugh! I just wanted a list in one place so I can keep my head straight on this plus I know a lot of you weren’t sure which ones you chose. Can I just ask each of you to confirm in the comments if you definitely still want to review these?

I’ve never heard again from a few of the below volunteers. I know I talk to a lot of you quite often & know the reviews are coming. But if anyone has changed their mind on doing any of these reviews, please let me know as I’ve had several new people express interest in joining in. I promise it’s okay if you’ve changed your mind! I’ll give it a few weeks (until July 6th) and if I’ve not received a reply on some of the movies below, I’ll add them back onto the list for other bloggers to be able to review. (Don’t worry if we’ve been in contact since you chose these – I know most of you are still planning on doing these. ZOEDo not freak out! I know yours are coming! Lol). 😉

FYI: There’s currently about a 2 month wait from when you send me your review to when it’ll post – I’ve received enough reviews already to have them scheduled up to August right now. If you send me more than one at once, I’ll space them out a bit.

SPOILERS: Also, I’m not telling you what to write (I’m a laid back & easygoing person!) 😉 but I’m just letting you all know I’ll have to include a Spoiler Warning on any reviews I think contain a little too much information. You can discuss the movies as much as you like in the reviews – I just like to put a big warning before a major spoiler as I know some people haven’t seen these films but want to read the reviews. I apologize for not always remembering to put that warning on some of the guest reviews. I’ve tried to make the big spoiler parts of reviews “invisible” but it doesn’t seem to work with my theme – Sorry :-/

Hope that didn’t sound bossy! Thanks again to all you wonderful volunteers! I may have to give up some of my 100 at some point if I actually want all 250 movies reviewed… 🙂

John Hughes March Blogathon Reminder – It’s Almost Here!

20140223-021117 am.jpg
Hi everyone! Don’t worry – I’m not here to be all bossy because I’m the WORST person for meeting deadlines. 😉

This is just a reminder to anyone who signed up that I’d ideally like to receive your reviews by this Friday. That way I can plan the month & more easily let you all know what day your reviews will be scheduled. As the first is a Saturday, it’ll officially kick off with the first review on Monday the 3rd but I may start the weekend with other non-review Hughes-related posts of my own.

As I’ve not heard from quite a few who had signed up, I’ll happily take more volunteers! You can see my most updated post HERE showing the films that hadn’t yet been selected plus the full list – you can choose to do ANY that you’d like to do whether others are or not. I’m planning to do 8 myself (yikes – I’ve not even started either!). 😉

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered and those who have sent me their reviews. I’m really looking forward to a whole month of John Hughes on this blog!

**NOTE: One other thing – I haven’t decided for sure yet but I’ll possibly be putting the IMDB Top 250 Guest Reviews on hold for the month of March but you can still continue to send me your reviews for when they’ll resume in April.

IMDB Top 250 Guest Blogger Update

20140211-123959 am.jpg
Wow! Thank you so much to all who replied when I said I’d like guest reviews to help me finish the IMDB Top 250 list (original post HERE). I was expecting maybe 10 guest reviews but 68 movies have already been chosen! 🙂

So, yeah – I’ll now be posting them much more often than just once a month. You can email me your reviews anytime to tableninemutant at hotmail dot com. I’ll let you know when yours get scheduled. I was also shocked when I said that I’d limit it to five per person, that so many of you actually chose five! I wasn’t expecting that at all. So, to those who have chosen five, feel free to pick a few more if you seriously want to. 🙂

The movies remaining are below (if you notice one you’ve chosen is still on this list, let me know. It was hard to keep up with all the replies! The Godfathers were grabbed after I’d scheduled this post. Yay!):

55 Life Is Beautiful 1997
117 The Seventh Seal 1957
231 All Quiet on the Western Front 1930

Btw – Here’s my review of the awesome The Lego Movie, which you should all totally rush out to see! I think it got missed after I posted the guest blogging thing… 😉

Guest Bloggers Wanted – IMDB Top 250 Challenge

20140209-114138 am.jpg
Hi everyone! Okay, so… When I started this blog a little over a year ago, I knew that the main thing I wanted to do besides reviewing the films I go out to see in the cinema/theater was make myself watch & review the rest of the IMDB Top 250 films I hadn’t yet seen by that point. I’m (very slowly) working my way through them. I’d already watched 150 before starting the blog and have watched & reviewed 24 more since (link to the challenge HERE).

Anyway – I’ve been wanting to have guest reviews from fellow bloggers for a while as I love the whole community thing going on here but I wasn’t sure what to have people review. I’m really excited about the John Hughes Blogathon in March (anyone can still join in on that! 🙂 ) but I want an ongoing thing as well. Anyone interested in doing guest reviews of films from the IMDB Top 250?

I think there may be similar projects on WordPress as a lot of people are interested in the IMDB Top 250. My only catch is that, since it’s a personal project, I still want to work my way through the ones I have yet to see. So I’d like guest reviews of the 150 I’d already seen. The list of the ones you can choose from is below. Don’t count them – there aren’t 150. Several will be CPD Classics at some point so I’ve taken those out. 😉

If you’re interested, let me know in the comments below or email me at tableninemutant at hotmail dot com. I’d like just one review for each film and, for now, I think I’ll limit it to five reviews per person. Depending on how much interest there is, that may change. I’m hoping to post at least one guest review a month but, again, that’ll depend on how many want to join in. No deadlines, either – I want this to be an ongoing thing.

(By the way – this is the IMDB Top 250 as of 01/01/13. It changes so often I have to work off one list. If these are all eventually done, I’d update it with a current version)

List:

**2 The Godfather 1972

John Hughes Blogathon – Still Time To Join

20140201-022305 pm.jpg
Sorry I’ve taken so long to post an update to this! Now that it’s February, I figured I better give all those interested my e-mail address so you can send me your reviews by the 1st of March. It’s tableninemutant (at) hotmail (dot) com.

I originally asked that there be just one person reviewing each film (along with me & Eric – original post HERE) but there was so much interest that I decided you can all choose to do any & however many you want. Below I’ve put a star next to every movie that at least one person has said they’d like to review. Wow! I’d LOVE to also have reviews for the very few remaining but feel free to pick from the starred ones as well:

Tajna Nikole Tesle
* National Lampoon’s Class Reunion
* Mr Mom
* National Lampoon’s Vacation
Savage Islands
* Sixteen Candles
* The Breakfast Club
* National Lampoon’s European Vacation
* Weird Science
* Pretty In Pink
* Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
* Some Kind Of Wonderful
* Planes, Trains & Automobiles
* She’s Having A Baby
* The Great Outdoors
* Uncle Buck
* National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
* Home Alone
* Career Opportunities
* Dutch
* Curly Sue
* Beethoven
* Home Alone 2: Lost In New York
Dennis
* Baby’s Day Out
* Miracle On 34th Street
* 101 Dalmatians
* Flubber
Home Alone 3
Reach The Rock
* Just Visiting
* Maid In Manhattan
* Drillbit Taylor

Those are all the films Hughes wrote or directed but I guess I can add the below films he produced if anyone wants these:

New Port South (written by his son)
Only The Lonely

I haven’t included movies where’s he just given a credit for creating the characters (such as Home Alone 4 & the later Beethoven films).

Saturday is a pretty dead day for blogging so I’ll post another update tomorrow. Thanks again to all the volunteers! 🙂

John Hughes Blogathon – UPDATE: Pick Any You Want

20140106-024400 pm.jpg
Thank you all for the great response to this blogathon! As there’s been such a huge response and some were disappointed at not getting their first choice, I’ve decided to let you all now choose any movie you’d like to do from the below list. There’s no reason that we can’t have more than one person doing some of them, I suppose. 🙂 All I ask is that you (pretty please) also do the original one that you picked as well so that I don’t end up with 50 people reviewing Ferris Bueller & The Breakfast Club. 😉

I’d also love it if some brave souls would choose some of the later ones that haven’t yet been chosen. (Baby’s Day Out has one volunteer! Woohoo!). I’ll put a star next to each one below that at least one person has chosen so far. You can see my original post about this blogathon HERE.

Tajna Nikole Tesle
* National Lampoon’s Class Reunion
* Mr Mom
* National Lampoon’s Vacation
Savage Islands
* Sixteen Candles
* The Breakfast Club
* National Lampoon’s European Vacation
* Weird Science
* Pretty In Pink
* Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
* Some Kind Of Wonderful
* Planes, Trains & Automobiles
* She’s Having A Baby
* The Great Outdoors
* Uncle Buck
* National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
* Home Alone
* Career Opportunities
* Dutch
Curly Sue
* Beethoven
* Home Alone 2: Lost In New York
Dennis
* Baby’s Day Out
Miracle On 34th Street
* 101 Dalmatians
Flubber
Home Alone 3
Reach The Rock
* Just Visiting
* Maid In Manhattan
* Drillbit Taylor

You’ll have plenty of time to watch your movie & e-mail me your review. I plan to kick things off in March so would like all reviews by the end of February.

John Hughes Blogathon – Volunteers Wanted

20140105-014415 am.jpg
Hello fellow bloggers! How many of you love John Hughes movies as much as I do? Well, whether you do or not, how many of you would like to help me with a John Hughes Blogathon I’m planning for March by choosing a John Hughes movie from the below list & doing a review for it? 🙂

I know he’s done the best teen movies EVER but that he also did some very dodgy stuff in later years. I’m hoping to get reviews for as many of these films as possible, including the bad ones. But as everyone will want to do things like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, I’ll have to do this on a “first comment received” basis. So add a comment ASAP with your pick.

Here’s the list – I’m including everything he’s ever written as he’s directed very few. I’ll update it as people choose their films:

Tajna Nikole Tesle
National Lampoon’s Class Reunion
* Mr Mom (chosen)
* National Lampoon’s Vacation (chosen)
Savage Islands
* Sixteen Candles (chosen)
* The Breakfast Club (chosen)
National Lampoon’s European Vacation (potentially chosen – let me know if you want this)
* Weird Science (chosen)
* Pretty In Pink (chosen)
* Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (chosen)
* Some Kind Of Wonderful (chosen)
* Planes, Trains & Automobiles
She’s Having A Baby (potentially chosen – let me know if you want this)
* The Great Outdoors (chosen)
* Uncle Buck (chosen)
* National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (chosen)
* Home Alone (chosen)
Career Opportunities
* Dutch (chosen)
Curly Sue
* Beethoven (chosen)
* Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (chosen)
Dennis
Baby’s Day Out (potentially chosen – let me know if you want this)
Miracle On 34th Street
101 Dalmatians
Flubber
Home Alone 3
Reach The Rock
Just Visiting
Maid In Manhattan (partial review will be done for this but someone else can still choose it too)
Drillbit Taylor (potentially chosen – let me know if you want this)

You’ll have plenty of time to watch your movie & e-mail me your review. I plan to kick things off in March so would like all reviews by the end of February.

Now, this had come about because I was picking on Eric of The IPC for never really watching many John Hughes movies (even though he’s my age so he should have!). So we agreed to do one of his Double Take reviews where he reviews a film along with a guest blogger. We’ll kick things off with a Double Take review of Weird Science on his site. We’ll then both also review several other Hughes movies on my site for the blogathon. But anyone else can also choose Weird Science or any of the others that both Eric & I will be doing too. Depending on how many volunteer for this, I’d probably post reviews of the same movie on the same day (One that Eric & I will both do is The Breakfast Club so if you choose that one, I’ll post all three of our reviews on the same day but spread out throughout the day. Probably. This isn’t all fleshed out yet).

Hope that all made sense. And I hope I get enough people joining in – this will be my first ever blogathon! Thanks in advance to any who volunteer. 🙂
