My Blog’s August 2015 Stats

Well, it’s the first Sunday of the month so I thought I’d review my blog’s stats for August. It was my biggest month for views in the almost three years since starting my blog, which is cool as it’s felt like everyone kind of disappeared over this summer. Where is everybody?! Hope you all had lovely summer vacations. πŸ™‚

Here are the stats I enjoy looking at the most – My Top Viewed Posts For August:

Well, My Top Ten Shower & Bath Scenes In Movies post is never going to die – I posted that in 2013 & it’s in my Top Posts every month. Pervs.

What I’m always happiest about is when I review something slightly more obscure & end up getting a huge response from people who either wish to add how much they love that movie or from people who had never heard of it & are now very interested in seeing it after my (stunningly well-written) review. πŸ˜‰

There were two posts like that in August. One was my review for The Last Unicorn, a strange little animated Rankin/Bass film from 1982 that was animated by those who later went on to form my beloved Studio Ghibli. It’s very of its time & has a totally 70’s-easy-listening soundtrack with songs by America plus big-name voice talents such as the always cool Christopher Lee as the “baddie”. It’s strange & beautiful and lots of bloggers, male & female, stopped by to say how much they love that movie.

The other post that got a lot of attention was My Top Ten Drew Struzan Movie Art Pieces. I love movie poster art & thought Struzan was more of a household name but after I reviewed the excellent documentary about him (review HERE), it was obvious many bloggers weren’t aware of him. When I did my Top Ten list of his movie art, people became far more interested when they saw just how many iconic posters he created (Back To The Future, various Star Wars special editions, The Thing, etc etc).

Finally, my biggest post of the month (after that old shower/bath post) was My Top Ten Movies With Song Title Titles. I had a lot of fun putting that list together so was very happy to get so many comments on it. I’m glad I finally got up off my bum & started posting these top ten lists every Thursday. I have a lot of them – I just need to get the time to put the posts together each week! I’ll try to keep it up. πŸ™‚

Now onto the always entertaining (and pervy) Top Search Terms For August:

“Alice Eve hot” AGAIN?! Every damn month that pops up! And I don’t think a day goes by where I don’t get at least one view of my old Odd Thomas review & I know it’s just because the actress in it, Addison Timlin, wears extremely revealing panties. Pervs. But… Kyle Reese naked?! I wish! Unfortunately, I have no nude photos of Michael Biehn. πŸ˜‰

Let’s see… Haviland Morris? The popular bitch from Sixteen Candles? Wonder who was searching for her… Not Jake Ryan! Ha! Interesting that people were looking for current photos of the cast from The Lost Boys & The NeverEnding Story (don’t click on that – you may ruin your childhood looking at Barret Oliver now). Looking at those posts, I’d forgotten I did this Lost Boys haiku. I like it!:

Two Coreys defeat
Santa Carla vampires
Death by stereo

Finally, here are My Top Commenters (hugs!) & New Followers (hello there!):

I can’t believe it’s already September. But I must admit that I can’t wait for this month to finish so that I can start posting nothing but horror movie reviews & other horror-movie-related items through all of October. And I love reading all the horror reviews on other blogs, which is weird as it’s hardly my favorite genre! I’ve been watching horror films since July to prepare. And, man – have they sucked! I’m hoping to watch a few good ones by October. So far, this is the only one I’ve enjoyed in the slightest:

Happy September everyone! πŸ™‚

My Blog’s July 2015 Stats

IMG_1543

I’ve decided to do a little monthly blog stats review on the first Sunday of each month (at 2:00 pm as, apparently, this is the time & day when I get the most views). Really?! Huh. Weekends are always so dead on the blogs. Well, hello to all you Sunday blog readers! πŸ™‚

Here are my July 2015 Blog Stats:

July gave me the highest number of views so far this year, which was surprising as summer on the blogs is always very quiet (in my two & a half years of experience at this blogging thing, anyway). I suppose I ended up posting quite a few things as I’ve been trying to manage my time better (but I’ve been too busy this week so have nothing prepared for this coming week yet!! Damn – I like to be at least a week ahead on scheduling posts!).

Anyway, here are My Top Posts for July:

IMG_1612

It looks like my review of Minions is the winner this month. I knew it! Everyone loves those crazy minions! πŸ™‚ I’m also happy to see that my nerdy Star Wars trip into London to see Secret Cinema’s The Empire Strikes Back got the second highest amount of views. As always, my post of My Top Ten Shower & Bath Scenes In Movies is still going strong. Seriously, I posted that in April of 2013 – that post is never going to die! Thank you, pervy Googlers. I’m also happy that my two posts of “mini-reviews” did well & got some great comments from you guys (the last one I did had reviews of Drugstore Cowboy, At Close Range & Slacker). I’m doing those to catch up as I’m way behind on reviewing what I’ve watched, but if I do it too often I’ll run out of movies to post about. πŸ˜‰ I like how quick & easy they are and the good response they get, though, so I’ll try to do a couple each month.

My Top Search Terms for July:

IMG_1613

It never ceases to amaze me to see that the majority of my top search terms are pervy. ALWAYS. I know that’s the same for everyone with a blog, though. The biggest ones here are the usual ones who get searched for on my blog every month: Alice Eve, Lucy Deakins, the girl (Addison Timlin) in the revealing panties in Odd Thomas, and Anna Kendrick in the shower in Pitch Perfect. I’m surprised at just how many people come here searching for Lucy Deakins. She wasn’t in many films but I think a lot of boys going through puberty really liked her in The Great Outdoors & I talked about her in my review of that movie (HERE). I also included a pervy gif – Sorry, Lucy Deakins. I absolutely loved her movie The Boy Who Could Fly but you young people reading this blog would hate it so don’t watch it! Here’s Lucy Deakins again for my Googlers:

I was very intrigued by the search term “Judie Aronson Feet” as I didn’t even know who the hell that was. Oh – that’s Hilly from Weird Science! I’m pretty sure I didn’t mention her feet in my review, though….

Finally, “They Live Movie Quotes” popped up on the 31st, I’m assuming right after the sad news of Roddy Piper’s death. They Live is a favorite movie of mine (and my very favorite John Carpenter movie). I haven’t yet reviewed it but did of course once post the bubblegum quote as it’s one of the all-time greatest movie quotes.

R.I.P. ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper

My Top Commenters & New Followers:

IMG_1614

Thanks again to everyone who takes the time to comment on my posts. That’s the whole reason why I blog! I love discussing movies with you guys. πŸ™‚ I think I’ve been a little better at visiting all your blogs this month too (that whole better time management thing) but I did have a hectic time this week so didn’t manage it… Sorry! I’ll be back soon! I totally don’t get the top commenters statistics, though. The numbers never really seem to change and you can’t look at them by month, year, etc. So I don’t know what the hell those numbers up above even mean but I believe those are the people I’ve seen the most lately. Hi, guys! *Hugs* lol

And hello to my new followers this month. I don’t always catch the new follower notifications so I’m sorry if I’ve missed following any of you back. (I’d hug you too but we don’t know each other well enough yet) πŸ˜‰

That’s it! See you again next month with August’s stats. August?! Where has this year gone? Where has my LIFE gone?! When did I get so old?!?!?! Ugh.

Happy August, everyone. πŸ™‚

Happy 2nd Blogiversary To Me

IMG_7697.JPG
I’m having a party! And you’re all invited…

Hi all! How is it possible that I’ve not seen a movie where Mary Ingalls slaughters a bunch of people?! Well… I’ve made it to two years! Wasn’t sure that I would (and almost didn’t). I’m now chilling a bit and just doing this thing when I have the time. Let’s do a little recap of this past year and then I’ll talk a bit about my (more laidback!) plans for the future of this blog. πŸ™‚

MOVIES:

As usual, I’ve watched a lot of movies so far this year. I’m way behind on reviewing the movies I’ve watched at home but have at least managed to review most the movies I went to in the cinema. Top Ten lists will of course be done end of December (god I love LISTS!) but here are My Top Five Movies (watched in the theater & at home so far in 2014) (the full RANKED list can be found HERE for anyone who is really curious. or bored).

Seen In The Cinema:

1. The Wolf Of Wall Street – 9/10
2. Guardians Of The Galaxy – 8.5/10
3. Her – 8.5/10
4. Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes – 8/10
5. Edge Of Tomorrow – 8/10

Seen At Home:

1. NausicaΓ€ Of The Valley Of The Wind – 9/10
2. The Return Of The Living Dead – 8/10
3. Spring Breakers – 7/10
4. Full Metal Jacket – 8/10
5. Marnie – 7.5/10

STATS:

My views are still nothing compared to the 100,000 a lot of you seem to get in just one year but I’m happy enough considering I know I’ve slowed down on the blogging this year. As always, I’m most thankful to everyone who stops by & leaves me a comment as I always love some movie chat. πŸ™‚ I’ve found it very hard to keep up with blogging this year but I do my best on catching up when I can.

IMG_7683.JPG

As always, I loved seeing my above All-Time Top Search Terms. I had no idea 21 Jump Street was in the lead, probably because I reviewed the movie as well as talked about the TV show (which was way better and nothing whatsoever like the movies). It’s nice to see that Avengers Dildos is still going strong and that Duplicitous Taint is slowly gaining. The power of anything slightly pervy, eh?

Which leads me to My Most Viewed Posts. Well, number one by FAR is still the same as last year: My Top Ten Shower & Bath Scenes In Movies. Coming in second is Chris Hemsworth’s Butt In Rush (along with Natalie Dormer’s naked butt as well – I know this now that I’m obsessed with & halfway through Game Of Thrones). In third place is my About Me page. I’m honored to be so close to Chris Hemsworth’s naked bum! *snicker snicker* I was hoping that My Top Ten Carpets & Rugs In Movies would be a top post but it doesn’t quite make it.

IMG_7700.JPG

One of the highlights for me this year was getting a lot of Twitter attention for my review of Night Of The Comet. The film’s star, Kelli Maroney, thanked me for the review and she & Catherine Mary Stewart now follow me on Twitter! Oh, and Egg Dude in the middle. We’re all gonna go on a post-apocalyptic shopping spree together! πŸ™‚

GUEST REVIEWS:

I’d once again like to thank everyone who participated in my massive John Hughes Blogathon back in March. I believe I managed to get at least one review for every film written by Hughes (except for one obscure one – I’ll try to do that one myself someday). You can find the links to every John Hughes review HERE including my The Breakfast Club and Don’t You Forget About Me (documentary about John Hughes) reviews that NO ONE read as everyone was sick of Hughes after an entire month… πŸ˜‰

Also, thank you as always to everyone who has contributed to (or at least signed up for) my ongoing IMDB Top 250 Challenge (you can find the links to every review HERE). I have guest reviews scheduled for every Tuesday from now through February at the moment! I’ve fallen way behind on the 100 I’m meant to be doing myself – this year I’ve only managed to watch 9 and, of those, only reviewed 3. Yikes! So I plan to do a lot more IMDB reviews myself in 2015. Which leads me to some plans I have for Cinema Parrot Disco in 2015…

IMG_7701.JPG

FUTURE PLANS FOR THE BLOG:

As I said before, I’m planning to take it a little easier & not push myself to do loads of reviews if I don’t have time. I have a few things planned, like an Akira Kurosawa Month & a Charlie Chaplin Month where I’ll work through reviewing their IMDB Top 250 films (plus a few more). Don’t worry, I won’t overdo things like I did with John Hughes – I’ll still review other things too those months. πŸ˜‰ I also plan to start my own blogging relay soon that I’m hoping will work its way around WordPress. And, as always, I’m still trying to think of the best ways to make the time to READ READ READ all your blogs too! :-/ The main things I’ll be focusing on for this blog in 2015 besides my own IMDB Top 250 reviews are:

IMG_7690.JPG

Studio Ghibli Month in January:

As you can see above, I’ve ranked NausicaΓ€ Of The Valley Of The Wind as the best movie I’ve seen at home this year but I’ve not yet reviewed it. I’ve watched a lot of Studio Ghibli films this year that I’ve not yet reviewed so have decided I’ll review as many as I can through January. As so many of them are in the IMDB Top 250, I’m doing all those (as well as several others) and am holding off on the guest IMDB reviews that month.

John Carpenter Project:

When I finished the John Hughes Blogathon, I announced that my next blogathon would be a John Carpenter one. Apologies to the few people who got really excited about this… I kept putting it off as I remembered JUST how much work is involved in a blogathon so, instead, I’ve decided to make it my own personal project to review all his movies in 2015. Not sure yet if I’ll post them randomly when I get time or if I’ll save them up then post them all when I’ve finished them. Either way, I’m not going to stress about it & will take my time. I’m doing this because there are a few big films of his I’ve still not seen. Unlike the Ryan Gosling Project, I won’t abandon this project. (I got bored with Ryan Gosling. I’m so fickle! Then again, it’s not like he’s done anything as bad as Ghosts Of Mars. Hmm…)

Wow. Sorry for the LONG POST! It was all a bit “me me me”, which I hate. The truth is, I’ve kept doing this for two years now thanks to all you great people! I do love to “have a chat” when I have time and wish I could find more time for this blogging thing. Thanks again to everyone who visits and who comments – I’m sorry I’ve not been visiting other blogs much this year. I really do appreciate you all! Not just these lovely people below but also those who’ve taken the time to comment on even one of my silly posts. You’re the best! THANK YOU! πŸ™‚
